CPU-Upgrade News

September 27, 2011 - it is now possible to reply to comments. and the replies will always be displayed right under the parent post. To reply to any comment, move your mouse cursor over the post, and a "Reply" button will popup in the upper right corner of the comment title. Click on the "Reply" button to respond to that comment. This week I may tweak this feature a bit, but there won't be any major changes to the comment system in the near future.

April 18, 2011 - I started adding detailed specifications to Gigabyte motherboards. Like for ASUS boards, the specs will be added little by little, until all of them are complete. Once we get close to a hundred of motherboards with complete specifications, I will begin working on the next step, which will be a search page for specific motherboard feature(s).

April 16, 2011 - Manufacturer pages now show motherboard chipset, and a list of supported processors for each board. Unfortunately, this makes the pages at least twice as long as before. To rectify this, I'm planning to add filtering capabilities to manufacturer pages in the near future.

March 22, 2011 - I added more detailed specifications to some ASUS motherboard pages. The specifications show mainboard form factor, supported FSB, features, expansion slots, back panel and internal connectors, and on-board interfaces. As an example, see how it look on the ASUS P4P800S page. The specifications are not complete yet, and I'll be adding missing information in the course of next few days (or weeks). If this data turns out to be useful for site visitors, then I'll start adding board specifications for other manufacturers.

March 16, 2011 - CPU support pages, that show data for multiple PCBs, now have a filter that can limits displayed records only to specific PCB revision. See, for example, how it looks on the ASUS P5QL-VM EPU page. Clicking on the "ALL" link resets the filter, and displays all PCB revisions.

August 1, 2010 - We now have Recently added pages web page. It will shows all new pages added to the site, and the dates when they were added.

July 24, 2010 - I added Most popular motherboards and motherboard manufacturers page. The page shows 25 most visited motherboard pages, and popularity, based on the number of visits, of motherboard manufacturers presented on our website. Permanent link to this page is located in the lower right corner of the CPU-Upgrade front page.

Feb 7, 2010 - I developed a semi-automated method of matching support records to CPU part numbers. This helped me to reduce the number of unmatched records on the site from more than 10% to less than 5%. I hope that from now on I'll be able to keep up not only with cpu support updates for most of motherboard manufacturers, but also with part numbers' updates.

Jan 1, 2010 - I started adding CPU upgrade data for Soltek motherboards. Like in the case with Epox, adding Soltek data requires a lot of manual work, for that reason I will spread the work over the next one or two weeks.

Dec 26, 2009 - Starting this month, I will try to keep one-month update cycle for major motherboard manufacturers, such as ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte.

Dec 18, 2009 - I added CPU upgrade data for slot A and socket 462 Epox motherboards. Updating data for all Epox motherboards will require a good deal of manual work, therefore I will break it into a series of updates - one socket at a time.

Oct 6, 2009 - 45 or so Jetway motherboard names were corrected - previously they had Rxx (PCB revision) appended to the name, and not separated from the name by space.

May 13, 2009 - You can now search for full or partial motherboard name using "Search for motherboard name" tool.

April 25, 2009 - I tweaked website's look and feel:

  • Every page now has a search box in the top right corner
  • Every manufacturer and motherboard page now has a breadcrumb navigation - it allows easy access to parent pages of the current page.
  • Every motherboard page now displays last modified date in the right bottom corner of the page. This date shows when the last time new CPU support records were added to the page. The date doesn't change when new comments are added to the page, or when we add matching part numbers.
  • Not tested processors are now highlighted in the same way how we highlight processors that may not be supported by a motherboard.
  • Website's front page now includes "Search for CPU part number" feature. Use this feature to get a list of all motherboards that support specific part number.

April 20, 2009 - We changed the way how part numbers are linked on all CPU support pages. The new method of linking part numbers (using external javascript files) helped us to reduce the size of all pages by approximately one-third.

June 8, 2008 - More Intel motherboards were added to the site. Please note that the CPU support data for Intel motherboards still doesn't have information on the latest Intel microprocessors - Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, etc.

May 31, 2008 - We now have CPU support data for old Intel motherboards.

April 19, 2008 - CPU upgrade data on socket 775 and socket AM2/AM2+ Biostar motherboards was added to the site. Data on older Bisotar motherboards will be added in the few weeks.

December 17, 2007 - If you cannot find CPU upgrade information for your motherboard on the site please post a comment on any motherboard manufacturer page. I may not have the data for your motherboard, but I'll the following things - I'll create a page for this motherboard model and move your comment there, and I'll try to find data for your motherboard and add it to that page. Even if I won't find the data there will be a small chance that somebody else will answer your question. As an example of this please see Asus P4B266-LA page - it's an OEM motherboard used in HP computers, and ASUS site doesn't have any data for this motherboard on their site.

September 28, 2007 - Information on ABIT and DFI motherboards was updated today. From now on I'm not going to post new about these types of updates. Instead, for each manufacturer on the front page I added a date when information about that manufacturer motherboards was updated.

September 26, 2007 - CPU upgrade information for all ASUS motherboards was updated.

September 14, 2007 - More than 97% of all processor records have part numbers now. Also, almost all processor numbers are now linked to pages with processor information. Now I can concentrate on updating CPU upgrade information. In the next two weeks I'm planning to update ASUS data, and, if time permits, I will add data on old ABIT motherboards.

September 8, 2007 - Another batch of part numbers were added today. Currently more than 85% of all data have part numbers. I will need to do one more update in the next two weeks to put all remaining CPU part numbers online.

August 31, 2007 - More part numbers were added to CPU support pages. My estimate is that about 2/3 of all pages now have part numbers. I still need to update Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, Sempron and other K8 processors, socket 775 Pentium 4 processors and Slot 1 processors. This should be some time in September.

August 18, 2007 - After three month delay I found some time to update more part numbers. This time I updated Celeron D, Pentium D, Sempron, and Athlon 64 FX microprocessors.

May 21, 2007 - I started adding part numbers to CPU support pages. It's a long process, which will probably take a few weeks to complete. So far only 20% of records have part numbers - mostly Athlon XPs, Durons and some Athlon processors. Today I also fixed ASUS motherboard pages - they no longer have PCB and BIOS versions mixed up.

April 13, 2007 - The site now has data on Shuttle motherboards. Next site update will be some time in May. I believe that CPU upgrade information that is currently on the site is not complete without processor part numbers. So, I'm planning to add part numbers to many pages. This will be spitted into a few separate updates as to update even one hundred motherboards I'll have to go through a lot of data, and the site currently has data on about 2500 motherboards.

April 6, 2007 - I posted information on ABIT motherboards.

March 3, 2007 - It is now possible to post comments on motherboard pages. Posting doesn't require registration, and comments/questions are posted immediately. To reduce amount of spam I had to program the comment form not to accept any comments containing HTML code or links. I will monitor all posted comments and may remove abusive comments. If you post a question I will respond to it only if I know the answer.

February 24, 2007 - We now have CPU upgrade data on more than 100 ASRock motherboards. I'm still working on comments system. It was delayed, I estimate it'll be ready some time next week.

February 17, 2007 - CPU support information for DFI motherboards was added to the site. Sometime next week I'm planning to change all pages so it'll be possible to post comments on motherboard pages.

January 10, 2007 - I put online CPU support information for PC Chips motherboards.

December 28, 2006 - The site now has data on ECS motherboards.

December 14, 2006 - I uploaded data for remaining 350+ Gigabyte motherboards.

December 11, 2006 - I started adding information on Gigabyte motherboards. So far I have data for about 200 motherboards. More information will be added later this week.

December 1, 2006 - About 40 MSI motherboards missing in yesterday's update were added to the site.

November 30, 2006 - I added many MSI motherboards. I'm sure I missed some of them, but majority of recently released boards should be in the database.

November 27, 2006 - You can now use Search page to search the site.

November 25, 2006 - Data on more than 200 ASUS and Jetway motherboards was added to the site.

November 24, 2006 - The first batch of cpu support pages for about 350 different ASUS motherboards is ready. These pages are now uploaded to the site. When I can I'll add motherboard search feature to the site, and then I'm going to start working on other motherboard manufacturers.
