Processor support

Hello.

My mobo is a PC Chips M810L (or LR) and I'm using a Duron 800 MHz processor.

The mobo user manual states that it supports Athlon: 650 MHz~1.2 GHz, FSB: 200 MHz and Duron: 550~850 MHz, FSB: 200 MHz, but this was back in 2001. I wonder what's the fastest processor available that I can use right now with this mobo (I mean, will AMD Athlon XP 2200+ - AXDA2200DKV3C, for instance, work?). Also, I'd like to know how much faster it will be in reality.

I searched both PC Chips and AMD sites but was unable to find an answer.

If this is posted in the wrong place please tell me where can I ask it, or move it accordingly. Thank you very much.

The M810 FAQ (http radel.inet.net.nz/m810lmr.html says that rev 1.6/3.0/5.0 all have A1/A2 SiS730 chipset & does not in general support 266MHz FSB (there seem to have been exceptions). Rev 7.0 has B1 chipset and will be ok with 266 FSB.

The PCchips website says that the 030808s BIOS allows all XPs up to 2600+ in all Revs. I do not believe this.

You say that Athlon XP up to 2200+ with 266MHz FSB is possible.
Yet for Rev 3.0 you do not allow Morgan Durons with 266 FSBs
whereas you do for Rev 7.0.

I would be interested in how to distinguish SiS730 A and B chipsets. I have rev 3.0 and rev 7.0 mobos and I cannot distinguish between the chipsets. They are both called T-bird.
Any help appreciated.
