HM65 can support i7-620m & i7 640m FCPGA988 cpu ?
Please give me answer about that?
Because I have few previous Core i7 & i5 mobile cpu
stock.
can i7-2860QM support my acer aspire 4752g? pls reply
i7-2860QM
I doubt it. That quad core i7 is 45W TDP. I would stick to a 35W i7 like the 2620M or 2640M. They can be purchased on eBay for about $160-$200 as of this posting.
No
The i7-620M and i7-640M are G1 socket processors.
Also B960
Have a Toshiba Satellite with a Pentium B960, software is showing an HM65 Express chipset. Glad to know that I can likely upgrade to an i3 or an i5 with better graphics.
yes, it's possible.
more curious user may try SANDY-i7(TDP 45W) to their mainboard like yours(hm65 chipset embedded).
As heard about that, the result is nearly successful. wow !!!
but, RAM speed is supported only by 1333mhz.
i7 sandy (2720qm and above) is supporting 1600mhz ram speed.
Spongy 478 Socket
Sorry to post in the wrong place, but I read that my comments would be moved to the correct place once read by an admin. A friend gave me an Albatron PX865PE Pro. Included was a Pentium 4 3.2 GHZ 512/800 SL6WG MALAY L326B448 M337A375.
The board and case appear to be in pretty good shape, except for a lot of dust and some cigarette smoke buildup. I did get it to post a few times but after it warms up, it just dies. I have determined that the MPGA478B Socket is not locking the CPU in correctly. When I remove the heat sink, the CPU comes right out of the socket. (yes it was inserted correctly and locked down).
After further investigation, I noticed that when the socket is open (ready for CPU) everything looks good. When you close the lever (as if you had just installed the CPU) the plastic can be moved slightly to the left and right. I thought since you guys are working with these things everyday that you might have experienced this before and come up with a fix for it. Or can the socket be replaced?
Pentium 4 Solution
Check the board carefully and if there is/are any bad cap(s). Most probably it is a bad caps problem...
can i put Intel i3 2330 m in my aspire 7750zg
3rd gen & max ram
Tell me please, does this chipset support 3rd gen processors, particularly i7-3820QM?
And what is the limit of RAM DDR3-1600?
Intel's sixth-generation mobile chipsets do not officially support Ivy Bridge processors. So, officially it will not work with i7-3820QM. I have no idea whether laptop manufacturers on their own can add support for the new chips or not.
Upgrade
Can i put i5 or i7 to my acer aspire 5755g (i3 processor inside)
Intel's 3rd Generation CPUs
Does the HM65 express chipset support Intel's 3rd Generation CPUs???
i5 2520m -> i7 2720m
i have asus n53sn with chipset 65 and processor i5 2520m, can i change my 2520m to core i7 2720qm?
upgrade processor
got asus x54hy with core i3 2310m 2.10ghz.... can i upgrade my processor...? any sugestion which one is work fine with it or i should stick wid it...?
2310
u can upgrade to any i5 2xxxm or i7 two cores 2xxxm without problem. But with quad core's processors can be problems.
can i put an i7 2630qm to replace my i3 2310m?socket rpga988b.
B960 to Core i3/ i5/ i7
I have a ASUS K54C Notebook. Processor Pentium B960. Chipset HM65. Will I be able to upgrade to a better CPU, 2nd gen Core i3/ i5/ i7? Has anyone tried it before?
Asking beforehand, don't want to fry the motherboard :D
Thanks!
yes
they should work with that laptop hower i would recommend getting the latest bios update before installing
Socket PGA988 Vs PPGA988
Would I be able to add the Core i7 2xxxQM (TDP 45W) or only the Core i7 2xxxM (TDP 35W) models?
Also, I have found out that Pentium B960 (TDP 35W) sits on Socket PGA988, while Core i7 2620M on Socket PPGA988. As far I researched both are Scoket G2, but still they have different names.
Is it going to be a factor?
Thanks!
hmm
well id recommend the 35w or less cpu for cooling reasons but a 45w should work also the socket revision doesnt normally effect anythings if its socket g2 they should all fit the same socket it has to do with what the bios supports asus may have locked it to 1 multiplier and such so your cpu may run at a low speed the stock asus also sells a k54c with a Core i3-2350M which is a ppga988 which is probably the same motherboard
Why have not supported such as i7 3612qm or i7 3610qm is HM65 chipset of Intel? Also, I will not be able to replace the ivy bridge celeron b815? (TDP and the socket is the same as)
Celeron b815 is sandy bridge.
Ivy brigde processors need HM7X chipsets generally.
3612qm is embedded.
I have the same processor
I have the same Intel Celeron B815 Sandy Bridge 1.60 GHZ processor. I have a feeling you have a Samsung Series 3 laptop too? Judging from the combination of the chipset and the specific CPU.
CPU upgrade i3 to i5 and i5 to Quad Core i7
If you change i5 to i7 - check your AC Adapter in my case i must swap Asus 90W to 120W (90W= 19V 4,74A to 120W=19V 6,30A) because Intel Core i7-2630Qm has TDP=45W ,i3-2310m has TDP=35W.
Upgrade your bios to newest before CPU upgrade, change termal compound under CPU = Arctic MX-2,Zalman ZM-STG2 or other.
B960 upgraded
Well did my research on here and managed to upgrade my Lenovo B570 w/ a B960 in it to a I5-2520M. Very fast now and it is nice having a little upgrade to the graphics. I can play most modern games on the lowest settings or close to low settings. It multitask very well. Only problem is make sure you have your laptop elevated as since this is a upgrade from stock, it will run hot. The average temp I get is around 55 Celsius or 131 Fahrenheit and the hottest I have ever got was 89 Celsius or 192.2 Fahrenheit. The max heat it will take is a 100 Celsius before auto shutdown so be careful running that hot for a long amount of time. Make sure you put your thermal paste down enough to cover the whole CPU die.
Help with upgrade, noob here >+<
Hello,
Here are my specs:
CPU:
I5 -2450M @2.50Ghz
Socket 988B rPGA
MAX TDP: 35W
Revison: D2
Stepping: 7
Model: A
MOBO:
Manufacture: HP
Model: 17FB
Chipset: Intel Sandy Bridge Rev. 09
Southbridge: Intel HM65 Rev.05
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6700M
PCI-Express Link width: x8
PCI-Express Max. Support: x16
I would like to swap my CPU in for a quadcore for video streaming purposes, I still have no idea what my options are...even though I have been doing research for a week now lol.
Turbo boost does not matter for me cause I always run more than ONE Core.
I'm looking for at least a 50% increase in performance. Am I expecting too much?
Thanks,
Roman
Upgrade from B960 to i7 2630qm - Fujitsu A531
I made experiment today.
Upgrade failed. I think problem is difference in TDP (45W vs 35W).
I first upgraded bios to newest 1.30.
Even Resetting mb / bios settings didn`t help.
With cpu upgraded from b960 to 2630qm, laptop "start", but display is blank, drives not starting.
I wonder if 2620m will work in that laptop. Anyone changed B960/i3 to i7 2620m in Fujitsu A531?
Compatibility ?
Hello. Intel Core i7-3720QM (Ivy Bridge) - Can work on chipset НМ65? What problems can arise? (My notebook - Samsung Gamer 700G7A)
Thanks.
Checked up - it is not compatible!
Why are people saying Ivy Bridge is not supported?
Because the way I see it, this chipset DOES support the 3rd Generation / Ivy Bridge processors. The list says it all. Take the i3-3120ME processor for example. Even this list says it is supported. It is a 3rd generation Ivy Bridge processor. See this: ark.intel.com/products/65698/Intel-Core-i3-3120ME-Processor-3M-Cache-2_40-GHz
The manufacturing process is 22 nm and and it has Intel HD graphics 4000, and both these things are only present on Ivy Bridge.
I'm glad I noticed that, even I was beginning to thingk I wouldn't be able to upgrade to Ivy.
help
my notebook is asus u41sv i3-2310 (second generation) and i want a upgrade... the motheboard is HM65
i can upgrade to a Intel Core i7 2630qm (third generation)
the first is 35w and the second is 40w
help please
lenovo G570 LAPTOP with B950 processor
i have Lenovo g 570 laptop with dual core processor. is it possible to upgrade my processor in near future with I3 or I5 or i7 processor.
3rd Gen?
I have an ACER Timeline X 3870T with an i52450M, HM65 chipset. The upgrade list says that I can pop in a i5 3610ME? What about a i53320M? I cant find anyone that sells the 3610ME...
I have a program that needs just a tad more 3D power and the HD4000 is (from what I've read) 100% better than the HD3000
are there any socket support socket PGA-988???
on i7 cpus???
Asus n53sn and i7 q2720
Hi, I have a problem. I have a laptop n53sn with i5 2410M processor. I bought a i7 Q2720 ES Q154 processor, updated bios reset done but with a new Processor and it does not work. In what could be the problem? Lights are on, cooler spinning, but the screen does not work (internal and external).
cpu i7-3610qm
Does anybody know if hm65 express chipset supports i7-3610qm processor?
I can see a few notebooks wich are on selling who has already hm65 chipset with this processor.
does anybody know? thank you..
