You can buy these CPUs only second hand. Prices @ebay are imho to high. I would buy the E2220!

I think the Wolfdales or 45nm-CPUs are not supported: E5xxx, E7xxx and E8xxx and E6300@2.8 GHz/E6500@2,93 GHz

no its just a little bit difference of speed in 2.0 ghz vs 2.2 ghz boht cpu's are supported on this motherboard, make sure latest bios is installed for proper operation of pentium dual core processors !

Yes, this is enough. Windows 7 needs even less performance than Windows Vista.

By using unofficial beta bios with half-multiplier support, few boards like ASRock ConRoe865PE and 775i65G can support 45nm processors.

I think that's why people want to examine 45nm compatibility with this board.

My P5PE-VM boots up but does not recognize the western digital hard drive that its connected to. It is the only hard drive and set the jumpers to master. When it powers up i cannot even hear the hd spin..i was wondering if the there may be a problem on the motherboards ide connection or is it something else..please help

try using a differnt power cable with it and also try runing in cable select or without any jumpers maybe also a bad ide cable but if your not not hearing the hard drive it sounds like a power issue or a defected hard drive try picking up hard drive when powered on and turning it side to side slowly you should be able to feel it spining

45nm uses less silicon to produce the cpu making it not only cheaper to make but also less heat is generated from the chip the smaller the nm makes no difference is speed as speed is based on the cpu model itself so you can use 65nm or 45nm it will not make a difference

I've had some chips lying around and never used. A friend gave me some MOBO's, one is the P5PE-VW and the other is DG965WH. I have a Q9450, E6700, PEE 965, P4 650 and Pentium D 915. Not sure if my Quad will work on these.

the e6700 or the D 915 for the asus board and the 965 or 650 for the intel board the q9450 has a 1333 fsb so it will not work with them boards so if you wish to use that cpu you are going to need another board but the othe chips should work fine for those boards

Wolfdale core cpus e7xxx series + pentium dual e5xxx series will recognize in this board + work but the initial bios boot is a little delayed and the system shutdown would require a manual power off on the power supply but other than that it appears to work fine while booted up + powered on

the e8xxx series may work aswell but of course they would be subject to downclock due to their native 1333 fsb the best "official"
choices for this board are cpus x6800, e6700 -- best "unofficial"choices would be e7500,e7600 (with external graphics) or e5700, e5800 (with internal graphics)
