no it does not support pentium4 2.6mhz because it only has 533Mhz FSB this board supports atleast 800Mhz FSB..

basically you will want one with higher ghz and more cache you will want something higher then 3ghz 1333 or higher fsb would be best and with a large cache the Intel Core 2 Extremes are the faster cpus but they cost alot so i would suggest a Core 2 Quad cpu

the boards max is 4gigs so 2x2gigs of ddr2 1066 is the best it can take however ddr2 800 is also a good choice if you already have ram for it any ddr2 ram will work

I got a castoff P5KPL-AM EPU with a Celeron 336 already installed.

Updated BIOS to 501 and tried to upgrade CPU to original E6300 (1.86GHz). Fan spuns, DVD reset, but no other action. Tried even older Pentium 631 with same non-response.

Put Celeron 336 back in an installed Windows 7.

I am surprised that the Celeron 336 works with a 533 bus. I am even more surprised that the E6300 does not.

is the celeron runing at 533 or is it running at 800 i have a celeron 360 that i have running at 800 which is overclocked from the stock 3.4ghz to 4.6ghz becuse it runs at 800fsb the board overclocks it reason why i ask is because the celeron can handle really high overclocks where as the pentiums normally cant and that maybe why the board want let you use them
