compatibility issues
i have p4g533-la board which don't have Graphics Connector (AGP slot). i saw a p4v533-mx. they are both socket 478. are they compatible? can i change my board with the p4v533-mx?
please someone help me...
P4G533 and 2.8ghz SL7EY
I put a 2.8ghz (SL7EY, Malaysia) in my P4G533-LA and it worked without a hitch.
2.8ghz SL7EY works
I too can confirm that the 2.8ghz SL7EY works on the P4G533-LA motherboard! It exceeds HP's spec for the mobo, which I believe was 2.5GHz, but I assumed that was due to the specs being written before this CPU was released. In any case it works perfectly and is a big improvement for CPU intensive things like YouTube and Facebook. Also while I ordered a second hand "SL7EY Malaysia", I received a "SL7EY China". So I think we can safely assume the country of origin isn't important.

yes it will work
about PAG533
You wold have to replace the processor for a 533mhz fsb. as far as i can tell the only difference between these 2 boars are only the FSB (400vs533) and the added AGp slot on the PAV533. Not much diffence. but if you decide for the new board I have a p4 2.6Ghz Nothwood with 533fsb available, let me know.
2.8ghz 400FSB celeron "SL77T" works
SL77T Works just fine, I had the newest BIOS before trying the swap.. no issues.
This along with snipes success with the "SL7EY" 2.8ghz 400fsb Pentium-4 (not easy to find nor cheap when you do)
It appears this board can support all 400FSB Chips.. It will also run Prescot 533's (dunno about 800's probably not) however it will be underclocked as the board is HARDWIRED as 400fsb.. I've even tried pin mods with no success.. still runs at 400FSB
So 533 chips will run but they'll be at their multiplier X 100mhz(400mhz effective) which just plain sucks.
Correction
I misspoke, I just double checked the 533FSB chip I tested was the "SL6DW" a 2.53ghz p4 NORTHWOOD, NOT PRESCOTT.
Not sure if a Prescott would boot up at all but like I said the board is Hardwired for 400fsb so no point in using a 533 anyway you'll get lousy speed out of them.
