EPox EP-8RDA3
I'm looking for the CPU upgrade options for EP-8RDA3 motherboad. Currently configured with AMD Athlon 1.25 Ghz and would like to upgrade to a faster CPU if it would be worth the money. Thanks.
Hard to overclock
OEM motherboards (dell, ibm, hp etc.) are usually difficult to overclock as the manufacturer has locked the frequency settings. The only way you *MAY* be able to overclock is via a program such as CPU-FSB or similar. I have a P4-3.2HT LGA775 in an asus oem hp motherboard, and encountered the same problem. Could not overclock, I had to use CPU-FSB to overclock in windows.
I used CPU-FSB quite a few times on different machines. I got a p4 1.7 up to 1.85 stable with this program, but then any higher the system started complaining. CPU-FSB is a great overclocker tool, but please use with caution. Use of CPU-FSB may damage your hardware if you do not take care of how far you push it.
hope this helps you.
Processor speed
HP informed me that 2.2 ghz is the maximum processor speed for this mobo, however, I have seen postings of up to 2.4. I am just trying to figure how to navigate in the bios to overclock the fsb. Any help appreciated.
MOBO info
Many thanks for the information, I appreciate it.
P4B266-LA should be the same as P4B266 + some extra features, that is it supports Pentium 4 processors up to 2.2 GHz. I found a reference on the net that somebody was running it with Pentium 4 2.4 GHz. I have no idea if Pentium 4 2.6 GHz works in it or not.

My mobo not listed
I have an Asus P4B266-LA mobo, and I was wondering what the fastest processor was that I could install? It has a Intel 845 (Brookdale) chipset, northbridge chipset is
I845 MCH, and the southbridge chipset is ICH2. Could someone please post it for all to see, and also Email me? Thanks a bunch in advance.
