In case you are reading this and like me are wondering if this mobo can support the newer CPUs, the best place I have found on the web is here (replace the hxxp and yyy).

hxxp://yyy.overclock.net/amd-motherboards/366989-asus-m2n-sli-m2n32-sli-club.html#post4310984

Outstanding site. It has users who have installed AM3 processors and can tell you how to do it.

CPU Summary

Posted by: AMD_Guy

It looks like the following CPUs have been installed on this board and they are working.

Phenom II x4 940
Athlon II x4 620

Since this is an AM2+ board, it makes sense that the 940 will work. How is the AM3 CPU working on this board? Can someone post a CPUz?

Does anyone else have information? I like the value of the 630 CPU at .2 Ghz higher clock for only $6 more than the 620.

Thanks all, once I get my new CPU, I'll post back here.

Do I need to upgrade my RAM as well?
I got 4G of DDR2-800 (OCZ) on a (X2 4200+)

I know this board will only support (AM2/AM2+ 65NM) CPU, since most of the current gen are 45NM.

Hey,

There are some serious heat issues with the processor on this motherboard. However with bios 2209 it works 100%

I strongly suggest you do NOT use the stock cooler, you will most likely overheat the processor.

-----------------------------------

Go into the bios first and manually set the voltage to 1.25V, this is more than enough for the processor at stock settings.

------------------------------------------

With regards to overclocking, i managed to get 3.8Ghz stable on the motherboard but I was idling at 59'C

I've settled for 3.4Ghz with a max temperature of 55'C at 1.25V

-------------------------------------------

IF possible though, I do suggest getting a newer motherboard as the heat problems are very annoying

Regards

Phenom II/ Athlon II High Temperature

Here's a tip if you get your CPU working properly if the temperatures are too high.

Because the CPU isn't properly recognised the Vcore voltage is often too high. MAKE SURE YOU SET IT MANUALLY.

I bought a phenom II 940 today so I will write back tomorrow with what i've done.

athlon II x4 620

Posted by: Alex RADU (sandu_2k1@yahoo.com)

I also have managed to pair the M2N32-SLI Deluxe (BIOS 2209beta) with Athlon II X4 620 but I have some issues regarding the CPU temperature: in idle Everest 5.3 is reporting 47-52 degrees (Celsis). My cooler is Scythe Mine rev.B tunned with a 120mm Cooler Master PWM fan and worked flawlessly with my Athlon X2 5000+ Black Edition. I've touched by hand the cooler pipes and they were slightly warm.

Having this "problem" I haven't tried, yet, to OC my CPU. I'll do some research in figuring why I have those high temps: is it a BIOS reporting issue or ...actually I have a big problem.

If anyone have an idea, feel free to respond.
Thank you, Alex

oh just thought i'd add that idle temps with core temp hover around 37-42c with the oc. does anyone know why cpuid says the mobo has a 570 chipset though???

Phenom II X4 940 CPU temperatures update

Posted by: Mad Merdoc

Got the CPU core temps down to a reasonable 45-50C idle now, so all is well. For those who are still experiencing high temp issues this is what I did:

1) lap the heatsink
2) replacing the case fans with higher CFMs
3) reapplied the thermal paste (less is more)

Though I’m still showing a 10C discrepancy between what PC Probe II shows for CPU temps and what HWMonitor shows for CPU core temps. Hopefully just a BIOS bug.

Installed it too, works good but my CPU temperatures are reading too hot (all reading in Celsius).

CPU 72 degree (in BIOS 2205)
MB 51 degree (in BIOS 2205)
CPU cores 55-60 degree at idle (in Vista 64 using HWMonitor v1.14)

If you are getting allot lower temps can you please reply back with the following:

-temp idle and load
-make and modle of CPU heatsink
-BIOS version #
-anything special you did to BIOS setting
