Feb 7, 2010 - I developed a semi-automated method of matching support records to CPU part numbers. This helped me to reduce the number of unmatched records on the site from more than 10% to less than 5%. I hope that from now on I'll be able to keep up not only with cpu support updates for most of motherboard manufacturers, but also with part numbers' updates.

Jan 1, 2010 - I started adding CPU upgrade data for Soltek motherboards. Like in the case with Epox, adding Soltek data requires a lot of manual work, for that reason I will spread the work over the next one or two weeks.

Dec 26, 2009 - Starting this month, I will try to keep one-month update cycle for major motherboard manufacturers, such as ASUS, MSI and Gigabyte.

Dec 18, 2009 - I added CPU upgrade data for slot A and socket 462 Epox motherboards. Updating data for all Epox motherboards will require a good deal of manual work, therefore I will break it into a series of updates - one socket at a time.

Oct 6, 2009 - 45 or so Jetway motherboard names were corrected - previously they had Rxx (PCB revision) appended to the name, and not separated from the name by space.

May 13, 2009 - You can now search for full or partial motherboard name using "Search for motherboard name" tool.

April 25, 2009 - I tweaked website's look and feel:

  • Every page now has a search box in the top right corner
  • Every manufacturer and motherboard page now has a breadcrumb navigation - it allows easy access to parent pages of the current page.
  • Every motherboard page now displays last modified date in the right bottom corner of the page. This date shows when the last time new CPU support records were added to the page. The date doesn't change when new comments are added to the page, or when we add matching part numbers.
  • Not tested processors are now highlighted in the same way how we highlight processors that may not be supported by a motherboard.
  • Website's front page now includes "Search for CPU part number" feature. Use this feature to get a list of all motherboards that support specific part number.

April 20, 2009 - We changed the way how part numbers are linked on all CPU support pages. The new method of linking part numbers (using external javascript files) helped us to reduce the size of all pages by approximately one-third.

June 8, 2008 - More Intel motherboards were added to the site. Please note that the CPU support data for Intel motherboards still doesn't have information on the latest Intel microprocessors - Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, etc.

May 31, 2008 - We now have CPU support data for old Intel motherboards.

April 19, 2008 - CPU upgrade data on socket 775 and socket AM2/AM2+ Biostar motherboards was added to the site. Data on older Bisotar motherboards will be added in the few weeks.

December 17, 2007 - If you cannot find CPU upgrade information for your motherboard on the site please post a comment on any motherboard manufacturer page. I may not have the data for your motherboard, but I'll the following things - I'll create a page for this motherboard model and move your comment there, and I'll try to find data for your motherboard and add it to that page. Even if I won't find the data there will be a small chance that somebody else will answer your question. As an example of this please see Asus P4B266-LA page - it's an OEM motherboard used in HP computers, and ASUS site doesn't have any data for this motherboard on their site.

September 28, 2007 - Information on ABIT and DFI motherboards was updated today. From now on I'm not going to post new about these types of updates. Instead, for each manufacturer on the front page I added a date when information about that manufacturer motherboards was updated.

September 26, 2007 - CPU upgrade information for all ASUS motherboards was updated.

September 14, 2007 - More than 97% of all processor records have part numbers now. Also, almost all processor numbers are now linked to pages with processor information. Now I can concentrate on updating CPU upgrade information. In the next two weeks I'm planning to update ASUS data, and, if time permits, I will add data on old ABIT motherboards.

About CPU-Upgrade.com
There are a few good motherboard databases on the net, but they lack one thing - they don't tell specifically what processors can be used in the motherboards. The purpose of CPU-Updgrade site will be just that - to host a motherboard database that will allow visitors to find out what processor upgrades they can use on their motherboards. The database is not going to list all motherboard features, or allow people to download BIOSes or manuals for different motherboards. Like I said, there are other good sites that have this information, so adding it to CPU-Upgrade database is very low-priority task for me.
